Nutrition and Activity Program for Families of Children with Down Syndrome: HomeGrown

HomeGrown is an online program designed specifically to help families of young children with Down syndrome improve nutrition and physical activity practices at home. 

Who can participate?

  • Children 2 to 6 years old with Down syndrome who are not reliant on a feeding tube
  • Caregivers ages 18 and older who speak English

Who cannot participate?

  • Individuals without access to a computer
  • Non-English speaking caregivers

Where does this study take place?

Virtual

What activities are involved in this study?

Participants will be randomized to either the HomeGrown intervention program or a control group. The control group will have a 6-month delayed start for the program.

Intervention group activities:

  • Monthly check-in calls with a health coach and other families
  • Self-reflection, goal setting and education on an interactive website with helpful videos and resources
  • Having your child wear an activity counter/pedometer
  • Dietary recalls

Intervention and control group activities:

  • Baseline and follow-up surveys
