The Geriatric Health Services Research Lab is conducting a research study to explore how the Riding in the MomentTM horseback riding program can be adapted to include adults with Down syndrome.
Who can participate in this study?
Adults with Down syndrome will be eligible if they are:
- 30 years of age or older,
- have a physician's diagnosis of Down syndrome,
- an English speaker,
- able to participate in the consent or assent process. Participants must also have a study partner (friend, family member, or caregiver).
Who cannot participate in this study?
Adults with Down syndrome who do not meet the main inclusion criteria will be excluded.
Where does this study take place?
The study can be conducted either at the University of Wisconsin-Madison or virtually via Zoom.
What activities are involved in this study?
A member of our study will call you to ask some questions to determine if you are eligible for our study and to gain your consent. You will then participate in one 30 to 60-minute interview, which can be conducted virtually or in person. You will participate with a study partner (friend, family member, or caregiver) to answer questions about your opinions on an adapted horseback riding program.
What is the expected time commitment of this study?
Between the screening call and the interview, the entire time commitment is at most 90 minutes.
